About the Practice

Kameryn Rose Therapy, AKA Rose Therapy, is a telehealth-based private practice in California, founded by Kameryn “Yams” Rose, LMFT #119932 after several years of therapeutic practice in residential treatment facilities and group practice advocating for neurodivergent, queer, and POC clients.

Rose Therapy provides culturally-informed psychotherapy focused on serving BIPOC (Black and Indigenous People of Color) and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals who are actively exploring or challenging their identities—be that their diagnosis, gender, sexuality, internal values, or interpersonal roles—prioritizing ethical practice, community care, and accessible affirming services.

About You

You are a queer BIPOC community builder, advocate, professional, or in need of support without explaining the basics of your experience. You are exploring or refining your identity, making space for others without reciprocation, or battling burnout:

Dealing with unsupportive family, inadequate community, unaffirming workspaces, confusing social messages, normalized microaggressions, systemic oppression, and the intersections of how the way you are perceived affects it all, regardless of how much you’ve grasped control of your identities.

About Your Therapist

Introduction

Kameryn “Yams” Rose, LMFT #119932 (he/him) is a Black, neurodivergent, and agender individual part of a growing pool of clinicians dedicated to expanding services and support directly available to their communities. His practice is rooted in anti-oppressive principles and a deep understanding of the cultural struggles faced by LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC individuals, particularly those who are neurodivergent or seeking gender-affirming care. Yams is committed to co-creating a safe space while modeling and encouraging authentic self-expression, including challenging internalized prejudices and messages not endemic to our own personal and cultural values.

Self

Outside of therapy, Yams is active in identity-affirming communities, including the kink community, finding strength in spaces dedicated to emotional evolution, mutual support, and embracing authenticity. Engaging his own neurodivergent curiosity, Yams constantly explores a wide range of topics, from cultural insights into other communities, to graphic design and animal facts. For Yams, self-maintenance looks like creative outlets like leatherwork and digital music production, alongside practices like rest, routines with loved ones, and seeking nature.

Yams hopes to share in your journey towards reimagining your vision of your world. Your voice is always welcome and will be heard here.

Education & Experience

Yams holds a Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, with prior studies at Swarthmore College. Early experience working with adolescents exposed Yams firsthand to how poorly BIPOC and queer youth were treated within established systems, solidifying a dedication to serve those underserved by traditional structures.

Yams specializes in supporting individuals navigating autism, ADHD, gender dysphoria, gender identity exploration, OCD, and trauma. He assists clients with evaluating confusing diagnoses, addressing misdiagnosis, and navigating referrals for affirming evaluation and medication management. Yams often provides gender assessment for established clients and focuses on helping folks with ADHD and disabilities manage routines and foster self-acceptance around productivity.

Always engaged in learning, he has completed training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and is pursuing a doctorate degree to expand the services he can offer to the community.
